Varicose Veins are a major problem in many areas of the world. Up to 40% of women and 25% of men will suffer from symptoms ranging in severity from mild discomfort and fatigue to pain and swelling. If untreated, this can lead to unsightly blue veins, and increased fatigue to pain and swelling.
We now celebrate over three years of offering a minimally invasive alternative to the pain and lengthy recovery of traditional surgical vein stripping. ELVeS (Endo Laser Vein System) is a state-of-the-art laser treatment for superficial reflux of the Great Saphenous vein – which often leads to varicose veins. The procedure utilizes laser energy to heat the vein wall, causing it to collapse and seal shut.
During the procedure, our physician inserts a thin laser fiber optic directly into the vein. When the laser is pulsed, the energy causes the vein to become permanently occluded, thus removing the underlying cause of the rope-like veins. Gradually, the fiber optic is withdrawn, sealing the vein along the way. The complete procedure takes about 30-45 minutes. Patients can return to most normal activities immediately.
